Wimbledon, Iga Swiatek and the nightmare kitchen: "I love pasta and strawberries"

Wimbledon, Iga Swiatek and the nightmare kitchen: "I love pasta and strawberries"

The Polish tennis player offers a questionable dish...

Iga Swiatek wins on the court at Wimbledon. But at the table, she completely fails. The Polish player, number 8 in the draw, beats the American Danielle Collins in 2 sets and easily qualifies for the round of 16. The former world number 1, who won 5 Grand Slam titles in her career, recovers energy after the match with a dish that - apparently - is a specialty of Polish cuisine: pasta with strawberries. "Ever since I was little, I've eaten pasta with strawberries and yogurt. You should try it, it's delicious," she says on the court in the post-match interview.

The reaction of the public on Centre Court is 'cold', more than a buzz greets Swiatek's proposal. The experiment celebrates 'strawberries', the fruit that Wimbledon spectators consume in tons during the two weeks of the tournament. The pairing with pasta, beyond the messages that the enthusiastic Swiatek publishes on social media, seems questionable to say the least.
